A shallow field of depth can take a noisy background, such as bunch of leaves, and blur it out into an excellent way to frame and contrast the foreground. In this case, the pears pop out of the photo because of the sharp contrast between in focus and out of focus elements.
Perry and Poiré fruit (cider pears) was becoming harder to find as trees were ripped from the ground. Fortunately, people like Eric Bordelet have been preserving and planting these trees to protect their heritage and to ensure this fruit exists for future generations to enjoy. While they are virtually inedible, they make some of the most complex and beautiful fermented beverages known as Perry or Poiré. These are some of his cider pears.
