Beer/Cider Photo of the Week: Mary and the Baby Jesus at Orval

Merry Christmas from I think about beer!

I liked how the bare limbs of the weeping willow and the thinning autumn foliage framed the Art Deco statue of the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus at Orval. This was during one of the moments when the cloudy, fall sky over  the Ardennes had cleared for a bit to create one of those bright and crisp autumnal days that are so fantastic. This image of Mary and Jesus is singularly impressive. It’s huge. It adorns the second tallest building in the Abbey and stretches from the ground almost to the top of the roof. It’s a magnificent sight.

This photo was taken on November 5, 2014.

I hope your 2015 was a good one! I know mine was.
