Dogfish Head’s Festina Peche is a “neo-Berliner Weisse,” according to their website. Berliner Weisse is a tart, light wheat ale that undergoes some lactic fermentation to add sourness. Traditionally in Berlin, you’d order your beer with some sort of syrup to cut the acid and add some fun flavor to the beer. Taking this tradition but putting a Dogfish Head spin on it, Dogfish Head has added Peach to the fermentation. This adds extra fermentable sugar and complexity to the beer.
Appearance: Super pale blonde with a gentle pink/peach hue. Light, white head that quickly disappears.
Aroma: Light peach aroma with hints of wheat and sourness.
Taste: Lightly tart with bigger peach notes. Light but effective carbonation.
Overall Impression: Clean, medium finish. Sweet and refreshing. This is an amazing summer quaffer when you’re looking for something light but extremely flavorful. One of Dogfish Head’s lighter but amazing “experimental” beers.
Availability: Nationally in better beer stores in larger cities.
4.5% ABV

Just sending you a link of what I am drinking tonight. http://www.nightshiftbrewing.com/content/somer-weisse
Wow, how is it?
I really liked it but not as tart as I would have liked. I bought some Dogfish Festina Peche on your recommendation, looking forward to it! I’m defifnitely on a sour kick. As much as I like Dogfish, it does bother me that this is sold in four packs.
I think the 4 pack is becoming a trend. Green Flash is doing it on their beers.

Just had the Dogfish Festina Peche. Tart and sweet with subtle peach undertones. I recommend you pick this seasonal up. Here’s ithinkaboutbeer’s more comprehensive commentary on Festina Peche.
Very nice. I couldn’t agree more.
Totally with you on this one! But you knew that already. 🙂
