Pinkus Ur-Pils

Pinkus Ur PilsPinkus Müller Brauerei can trace its history to 1816 when Johannes Müller moved to the city of Munster in northwest Germany.  There he married Friederika Crammer and they started a brewery and bakery.  At the time, there were around 150 breweries in the city of Munster, today, Pinkus is the last.

Today, the brewery is run by the 5th generation of the Müller family, Barbara Müller and her husband Friedhelm.  Together they manage the brewing and restaurant operations.  Pinkus is a unique operation in that all the their beers are made from 100% organic malts and hops.  Additionally, they bottle the majority of their beer, approximately 80%.  Most German breweries keg a majority of their beer.

The Pinkus Ur-Pils, Ur translates to “original,” boasts an IBU rating of 32 which puts it up there around many American pale ales.
